Abdominal (ABD) 5x9 gauze pads absorb discharges from heavily draining wounds, especially those located on the abdomen. Abdominal pads seal off the wound area and help prevent moisture seepage by absorbing discharge into an extra absorbent inner cellulose core. Protecting the wound area reduces the risk of infection. Sealed edges prevent any absorbed material from leaking out of the pad.

Combine ABD pads are designed for general wound care and provide a high absorbency of wound exudate to help keep wounds dry. ABD pads may be either a primary wound contact layer dressing or in combination with foam dressing or gauze sponges as a secondary wound dressing in cases of heavy exudate or when extra absorption is required. ABD pads may be held securely in place with one of the varieties of medical adhesive tapes available on the market or by a gauze bandage roll for field dressing.

This type of pad is a great product for large or slow healing injuries as well as post-operative sites with heavy drainage.

Sterile abdominal pads should have a place in every first aid kit or medical supply, especially in industries such as manufacturing where severe wounds are a risk.
