Introduction to the Ferno Power X1 Ambulance Stretcher

One of the most recognizable pieces of medical equipment associated with emergency medical services personnel (EMS) is the stretcher. It’s been in use for patient transport in some shape or form for centuries. Stretchers have moved beyond simple construction of wood and woven wicker or canvas.

EMS stretchers, also called gurneys, now have wheels to make transport over pavement easier and also reducing the risk of injury for medical personnel, since EMS and ambulance workers are already more at risk for back injury than the rest of the population. Many modern stretchers also have battery assisted hydraulics that automatically raise and lower the stretcher’s legs. These types of stretchers are also referred to as “powered ambulance cots”.

Now, there is a stretcher that combines all aspects of modern stretcher technology into a single device. Ferno offers the latest in ambulance cot technology: the Power X1 ambulance cot. Keep reading to find out about its capabilities and why the Ferno Power X1 is a powerful addition to the arsenal of any ambulance crew.

Ferno Power X1: Strength and Reliability

Ferno has been at the forefront of innovation in medical equipment since 1955, serving diverse industries such as emergency services, fire rescue, mortuary, police, and the United States military. Trusted Medical Equipment

The Ferno Power X1 is a powered cot that offers maximum power, maneuverability, and speed. Large payloads are no problem for the Power X1; it has an unassisted lift capacity of 700 pounds, enabling it to function for regular patient transport as well as bariatric transport

The Power X1’s ENDURACharge power system offers 69% more power than the leading competitor. It can achieve 133 cycles with a 250 pound patient per charge in a controlled environment. The ENDURACharge lithium ion battery offers a longer charge cycle and continues to operate even in extreme temperatures. The RAPIDLift retraction system enables up to 40% faster leg retraction and extension than the leading competitor.

Designed for Cross-Compatible Fastening Systems

The Ferno Power X1 has been designed with cross compatibility in mind to seamlessly fit into your ambulance fleet’s equipment. It can be secured to Ferno or Stryker antler and rail systems, and the optional F1 Upgrade Compatibility Kit allows the Power X1 to be secured to the PRO F1 Universal Cot Fastener and Stryker Performance-Load.

Ease of Operation with the Ferno Power X1

The Ferno Power X1 sports a powder-coated aluminum frame that is lightweight but strong enough to withstand many years of service. There are two sets of contoured, ergonomic controls and Sure Grip lift bars for easy handling and maneuvering. Simple, familiar foot controls allow the user operation of the Power X1 while still maintaining their grip.

Users can adjust the programmable load height to match the height of the ambulance floor to simplify any patient transfers into or out of an emergency vehicle. There is even a manual backup mode that gives the user full control over the Ferno Power X1 even in the event of a total power loss. The ICS Integrated Charging System eliminates the need for time consuming battery management. A cycle counter even tracks usage to help with regular maintenance and upkeep, extending the life of the Power X1 and any associated equipment.

Patient Comfort and Safety

The Ferno Power X1 includes several features to enhance both the comfort and safety of patients being transported. TipRESIST Advanced Stability Technology delivers state-of-the-art stability, providing 82% more stability at the average transport height than the leading competitor.

ERGOFrame Flexible Positioning allows the Power X1’s frame to be shortened by up to 22 inches, further increasing maneuverability in cramped spaces.

The pneumatic backrest adjusts to a comfortable position for any patient, regardless of height or size. In the case that a patient is going into shock, the Ferno Power X1 has a shock frame that can raise the patient’s feet. The optional knee gatch gives even more patient comfort and further improves lift clearance.

A sealed bolster mattress gives complete patient comfort and also boasts a sanitary velcro-free configuration. The SAE-compliant Ferno X-restraints are all color coded for fast identification and patient security. The Power X1’s fold-down sidearms can be stowed quickly for fast patient transfer on or off the stretcher.

Optional accessories for the Power X1 include: the O2 bottle holder kit, X-restraint kit, and Power X1 IV pole
