Harris County Texas Obtains Portable Morgue

Harris County Texas recently acquired a portable morgue unit to help them manage victims in a mass casualty incident. It’s the first of its kind in the state, and allows a fully functioning morgue to be setup anywhere a disaster response team is called to.

In conjunction with helping them to identify and store victims’ remains, the portable morgue unit (DPMU) allows them to store remains off-site away from the medical examiner’s facility. 13 other counties in the surrounding area will also be able to utilize the unit should they need it, which was paid for with federal grant money.
