The BD Luer-Lok Tip Syringe is a sterile disposable syringe. The Luer-Lok syringe allows the needle to be twisted onto the tip and locked into place. This provides a secure connection, preventing accidental needle removal or accidental injection of contents.

In comparison, slip tip syringes, also known as luer slip, do not have a secure connection and e slip tips do not lock in place. Slip tip syringes also do not have a locking mechanism and rely on a friction-fit connection. The user must push the needle hub onto the syringe.
