Product Details

The SAM IO Training Kit contains all the components needed to simulate intraosseous access with the SAM IO system. Every kit includes a nylon training case, driver, 3 SAM IO needles, stabilizer, and adaptor. Simulation sawbones, including proximal humerus, proximal tibia, and distal tibia are also available in SAM IO Training Kits. Training videos are also available at the SAM Medical website.

*This training kit is not for use on humans and is intended for training purposes on manikins only. Items included are non-sterile and can cause infection if used. Do not use these tools without formal training.

SAM IO is a manually operated IO intraosseous access system. Catheter placement is achieved by continuously actuating (repeatedly compressing) the driver’s trigger assembly while gently guiding the needle assembly into position. Repeated, full trigger actuation creates rotational spin of the needle assembly which, when combined with gentle downward pressure, results in controlled IO placement. Once needle assembly is properly positioned, the stylet is removed and the extension set can be connected to the standard Luer-lock. With the extension set connected, aspiration verification, flushing and selected treatment(s) can begin.

Intraosseous infusion is to be used when intraosseous access is not available. IO injects directly into the bone marrow to provide fluid or medication. This process allows infusions to be injected directly into the vascular system. Because the process injects directly into the circulatory system, proper training is crucial to provide the best treatment for the patient and not cause further issues. This training kit is only to be used for demonstration or training purposes. At no point should an item from this kit be used on a human.

What’s Included in the SAM IO Training Kit

The SAM IO Training Kit contains the following items:
• A three needle set
•15mm needle
• 25mm needle
• 45mm needle
• SAM IO Driver
• Stabilizer Assembly
• IO Adapter
• IO Training Leg
• Training Case

The SAM IO driver is made of durable polycarbonate material and is certified under MILSTD 810G testing for durability and harsh environment use. It has been tested and cleared for over 10,000 actuations. The SAM IO’s design incorporates the multi-use manually operated driver and does not rely on battery power or operation.

The ergonomic design supports quick, intuitive application with a tactile feel for needle placement. The SAM IO adaptor attaches to the driver to accommodate alternative needles. Three needle sizes are included to address a wide range of patient demographics and various application sites. The SAM IO adaptor is intended for single-use only. Included in every needle set, the Needlevise Block is a single-use sharps containment device for the stylet. The SAM IO stabilizer has a cylinder design which protects the catheter from dislodgement. Replacement parts for each included item can also be purchased.

The SAM IO Training Kit includes all you need to learn how to achieve intraosseous access, all with a convenient carrying case.
