Product Details

Rusch Flexi-Set Endotracheal Tubes are ideal for oral/nasal intubation and airway management. Endotracheal intubation is the process by which a tube is inserted through the nose or mouth into the trachea to assist a patient to breathe while under anesthesia or due to a distressed airway. Scenarios for intubation can include opening the airway to administer oxygen or medication, removal of obstructions, helping a person to breathe because of collapsed lungs, allowing doctors to examine the airway, or preventing someone from breathing in liquids.

There are different reasons why a clinician would choose oral versus nasal intubation. Oral intubation is more easily accomplished because the patent is typically under anesthesia during the procedure. It is faster and less painful than intubation via the nose. In trauma patients, oral intubation is the preferred method when done with cervical immobilization.

Nasal intubation, on the other hand, can be performed while a patient is fully conscious. Nasal intubation has more of a tendency to cause bleeding in the nasal cavity and increases the risk of sinusitis. However, the nasal route can be used to avoid laryngeal complications, is more comfortable for the patient, and decreases the possibility of injury to the teeth and oral cavity. Fastening the tube is also easier with nasal intubation, reducing the chance of extubation.

Benefits of the Rusch Flexi-Set ET Tube

Rusch Flexi-Set Endotracheal Tubes are constructed of PVC, and include a preloaded stylet in the tube to save both time and storage space. The stylet has a low friction coating to facilitate smooth withdrawal, and the tube is equipped with a soft distal tip to reduce the possibility of trauma to the patient. The black positioning ring and clear graduations help the clinician with insertion and depth, and an x-ray opaque stripe runs the full tube length. Tubes are available in cuffed or uncuffed versions.

Uncuffed ET tubes are available in a range of two and a half millimeter diameter up to five millimeter diameter. Cuffed ET tubes are available in a range of five millimeter diameter up to nine millimeter diameter.

Rusch Flexi-Set ET Tubes are individually sealed in a sterile package, available individually or with ten units per box. ET tubes are intended for single patient use only, and should be properly disposed of after use. This product is constructed of latex-free materials.
