The SyncPen is easy to use and requires minimal training. Best of all, adding the SyncPen to your reporting process does not change your existing workflow. It’s as simple as write and sync!

How the emsCharts SyncPen Works
The printed paper forms contain a small microdot pattern that is read by the SyncPen. The unique dot patterns are nearly invisible to the naked eye and indicate the exact position of the pen on the page. The microdot patterns also distinguish each page so that they can be sorted independently from one another. The digital pen, which looks and feels like a normal ballpoint pen, reads the patterns and stores the data. This is done through an integrated digital camera, an advanced image microprocessor, and a wireless connection device that are all contained within the pen.
While writing, the SyncPen captures digital snapshots of what is being written, including the time each pen stroke was made and on what particular form it was documented. When the form is completed, the EMS responder taps a box on the paper form to trigger the data upload to emsCharts. Each data element is pulled in electronically to the patient record and is available for further reporting and analysis in emsCharts. The SyncPen can store up to 50 US Letter sized pages of handwritten data and works with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7.
