Disaster Portable Morgue Unit - DPMU
A fully-equipped mobile morgue that support specially-trained teams to provide morgue support to a event. The mobile morgue includes equipment for search and recovery, victim identification, DNA, fingerprints, Photography, full body x-ray, Digital dental exam, and pathology.

Victim identification services using latent print, pathology, odontology, anthropology, and DNA methodologies; assistance with body processing, preparation, and disposition.

Teams are organized on a regional basis in the US and consist of funeral directors, medical examiners, coroners, pathologists, forensic anthropologists, medical records technicians and transcribers, finger print specialists, forensic odontologists, dental assistants, x-ray technicians, mental health specialists, computer professionals, administrative support staff, and security and investigative personnel.

I. PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to outline the organizational and operational concepts, responsibilities, of an agency to support mass fatalities incidents.

Initial evaluation of incident fatalities
Fatality documentation
Human remains, evidence and personal effects recovery
B. Morgue Operations
Temporary remains storage
Forensic analysis of human remains to determine cause/manner of death
C. Ante-Mortem Data Management
Family assistance center operations (interviewing families, information collection for victim identification, other support services)
D. Victim Identification
Comparison of ante-mortem and post-mortem for victim identification (fingerprints, DNA, x-ray, dental, medical records, distinguishing features, etc.)
E. Final Disposition
Return of human remains and personal effects to families or the proper authority (medical examiner, sheriff) if family is not available
Decontamination
Determination of cause/manner of death
